politically correct bedtime stories

how does satire call out stereotypes?

We'll be examining classic fairytales this week in an attempt to (a) analyze the way these classic stories reinforce stereotypes in our society and (b) practice changing our writing voice to change the tone of one of these stories.

Module summary:
  • examine classic fairytales
  • discuss use of stereotypes in these stories
  • practice the creative writing technique of showing vs. telling
  • read sample stories from Politically Correct Bedtime Stories
  • write your own politically correct bedtime story!
